Buriram crush TOT SC, Port sink Navy (24/10/2011)
Buriram PEA extended their lead at the top of the Thai Premier League to nine points yesterday thanks to a 4-0 victory against TOT SC.
The Thunder Castle were by far the more attacking team and were rewarded for their adventure with a comfortable win at TOT stadium.
Herman Ekawalla scored the first goal after 13 minutes to set the tone as TOT SC rarely threatened.
Buriram's lead was doubled close to the interval when Frank Acheampong found the back of the net.
He then added a third close to the hour mark to put the result beyond doubt before Franck Ohandza conjured up a fourth for the league leaders as TOT SC's afternoon went from bad to worse.
At PAT stadium, hosts Thai Port FC defeated Siam Navy FC 3-2.
In front of a healthy crowd, Ekapoom Potarungroj scored the first goal from close range after just seven minutes but the Navy equalised in the 19th minute thanks to a finish from Paolo Barbosa.
Port soon regained the lead though and took a 2-1 advantage into the break thanks to Jedsada Ngarm-muang's clever header.
In the second half, Port appeared to take control of the game and they scored their third goal as Ekapoom grabbed his second of the match. However, Navy did not give up and reduced the deficit thanks to a Pisarnsin Sumin-inn finish but it was too late as Port held on for the three points.
Port remain in 11th place with 33 points while Navy are third from bottom with 23 points.
At Mae Fah Luang stadium in Chiang Rai, hosts Chiang Rai United edged Chonburi FC 4-3 in a thrilling contest.
United's four goals came from Wasant Natasan (13 and 59), Julian da Silva (65) and Sanong Chaiprakom (79) while Chonburi FC responded with finishes from Pipob On-mo (49 and 71) and Ney Fabiano (69).
