Warm-up ends in stalemate (06/10/2011)

Thailand could only manage a scoreless draw with Jordan in a warm-up match ahead of both sides' World Cup qualifiers at Rajamangala National Stadium last night.

Before the match, the Football Association of Thailand donated 500,000 baht to Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Yongyuth Wichaidit to help flood victims.

Proceeds from the match will also go to the government's flood relief efforts.

Both sides mainly fielded second-string players with Thailand coach Winfried Schaefer resting striker Teerasil Dangda and midfielder Datsakorn Thonglao.

Thailand dominated for long periods with forwards Sarayuth Chaikamdee and Sompong Soleb had scoring chances early on.

Midway through the first half, Sompong got injured and was replaced by Piyapol Buntao.

While Thailand were the better side, Jordan also squandered a couple of good chances,

In the final 20 minutes, Schaefer sent on striker Sarawut Masuk, of second division side Jamjuree United, who had chances but failed to find the back of the net.

Thailand will host Saudi Arabia and Jordan will meet Singapore next Tuesday in World Cup qualifiers.

Thailand are second in Group D with three points from two matches. Australia lead with a maximum six points while Saudi Arabia and Oman each have one point.

The top two teams from each of the five groups reach Asia's final qualifying stage for the 2014 World Cup.
