Chonburi held to 1-1 draw by Pattaya Utd in derby match (30/05/2011)

Chonburi FC squandered a chance to close the gap on league leaders Buriram when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Pattaya United in the derby match at Chonburi Physical Education stadium yesterday .

The Sharks from Chonburi were looking for a win but suffered a setback in the 23rd minute when Japanese striker Hiroyuki Yamamoto put Pattaya's Blue Dolphins ahead.

In the second half Chonburi piled on the pressure and equalised through Ney Fabiano. But they could not add to the score and had to settle for one point, leaving them eight points behind the league leaders with a game in hand.

Most entertaining match of the day was at the Leo stadium, where Bangkok Glass FC outscored Insee Police United 5-3 thanks to a fine hat-trick by Sarayuth Chaikamdee.

Surachart Sareepim put Insee Police ahead in the 8th minute but Sarayuth equalised in the 24th minute.

The Glass Rabbit put on the pressure and took the lead through Hironori Saruta and Amnaj Kaewkew added another to make it 3-1 in the 42nd minute. A minute before half time, Sarayuth slotted home his second goal and it looked like it was all over at 4-1.

However the Police came out firing in the second half with goals from Chakrit Buathong (54) and Filippe Ferreira (65) to make it 4-3.

But it was Sarayuth who had the final say with his third goal of the night as the game finished 5-3.

There was another lively game at the PAT stadium where Thai Port FC enjoyed their second victory in four days after edging BEC Tero Sasana 3-2.

Port took the lead in the 20th minute with a fine 25-yard shot from Ekkachai Sumre. The hosts extended their lead in the 42nd minute with a goal by Jacob Aikhionbare but BEC pulled one back just before half-time though Chris Brandon to make it 2-1.
