Maximum points again (December 03, 2006)

Thailand won their second group game yesterday when they impressively beat Kyrgyzstan 2-0 at Al Rayyan stadium in Doha.

Teerathep Winothai and Sutee Suksomkit scored the decisive goals for the kingdom, which followed their 1-0 win over Palestine on Tuesday.

Teerathep fired the side ahead after just seven minutes when Sutee crossed from the left to the lurking striker at the back post, who stabbed the ball home.

Thailand controlled the game well after scoring and got several chances from Teerathep and striking partner Ekaphan Inthasen.

Ekaphan had replaced Anon Sangsanoi in the starting line-up.

The kingdom nearly added a second goal in the 28th minute but Datsakorn Thonglao shot wide.Kyrgyzstan goalkeeper Valery Kashuba thwarted a decent effort from Ekaphan but he was unable to keep Sutee out soon after the restart.

Thailand's defence held firm as Kyrgyzstan tried to find a way back from 2-0 down.

Teerathep and Thana Chanabut should have widened the gap then Sutee fired a free-kick wide as the clock ticked down.

It was another good performance from Thailand and augurs well for their final group game against Kuwait on Tuesday.
