Leaders Buriram PEA held by Phichit (09/05/2011)
Thai Premier League leaders Buriram PEA missed out on a chance to stretch their lead after being held to a goalless draw at lowly TTM FC Phichit yesterday.
It was only the third draw for unbeaten Buriram who now have 30 points from 12 games. Second-placed Chonburi FC, who have also played 12 games, are on 27 points. Insee Police United, who have 23 points, are third.
SCG Samut Songkhram and Osotspa M-150 Saraburi also drew 0-0 at Samut Songkhram stadium. The home team failed to unlock Osotspa who were reduced to 10 men when Suradech Thongchai was sent off in the 73rd minute.
Before the game SCG unveiled their new signing Christian Nade who signed an 18-month contract with the club.
The French striker spent a season with English club Sheffield United and also played for Scottish Premier League side Hearts.
At Suzuki stadium, basement club Sri Racha FC picked up their first win after beating Thai Port FC 2-1 in a game that saw Port reduced to nine men.
Sri Racha midfielder Supaporn Prompinij put the home team in front just before half-time.
Port midfielder Siwakorn Jakkuprasart made it 1-1 in the 50th minute before an own goal by Alif Porji in the 62nd handed the home side all three points.
Port midfielder Thongchai Kuenkhunthod was sent off in the 23rd minute while defender Key Langkawong received his marching orders with three minutes remaining.
Sri Racha's victory was a timely welcome for new boss Dusit Chalermsan who was unveiled as manager yesterday.
The former Thailand midfielder replaced Weerasak Wangkusol, who has moved on to take up direcotial role at the club. Dusit, who left his post at V-League side Hoang Anh Gia Lai, reportedly agreed to a three-year deal .
