Muang Thong, Buriram PEA share spoils (03/04/2011)
Leaders Buriram PEA continued their unbeaten run after a scoreless draw at two-time defending champions Muang Thong United in the Thai Premier League yesterday .
Both sides had serveral scoring chances in an entertaining game at Yamaha stadium which was packed to its 17,000 capacity.
Muang Thong were the better side in the opening stages with forwards Teerasil Dangda and Dagno Siaka coming close to scoring.
At the other end, Muang Thong defenders Panupong Wongsa and Nataporn Phanrit had a busy day against Buriram's strike force of Franck Ohandza and Frank Acheampong who is dubbed "Ghana's Messi".
Ghana youth international Acheampong went clear after 32 minutes but his shot was blocked by goalkeeper Kawin Thamasatchanan. Acheampong then sent the loose ball over the bar.
Acheampong won a free-kick late on but Rangsan Vivatchaichok's attempt went wide.
BEC Tero Sasana moved to second, one point behind Buriram, after a comfortable 3-0 win at relegation contenders Si Sa Ket.
Phaitoon Nontadee and Agere gave the Fire Dragons a 2-0 lead in the first half and a Suphan Arjkhum own goal in the second half completed a miserable day for the hosts.
Army United returned to winning ways with a 2-1 home win against Chiang Rai United.
Leandro dos Santos opened the scoring for Army after 15 minutes and Carlos Eduardo equalised for the visitors in the 23rd minute.
Dos Santos scored the winning goal after 71 minutes as Army moved to third.
SCG Samut Songkhram remain the only other undefeated side this season following a 1-1 home draw with promoted club Khon Kaen FC.
Chokelarp Ninsaeng, whose name means "luck" in Thai, scored the equaliser for SCG in the 87th minute to cancel out Adisak Jarak's 38th minute strike.
Sri Racha FC are still looking for their first win of the season after losing 1-0 at home to Insee Police United who got the winning goal from Nantawat Thansopha after 62 minutes .
