Thailand to face Bahrain in Olympic qualifying (31/03/2011)

Thailand were handed a formidable task in their Olympic qualifying campaign as they will meet Bahrain in the second round .

The Thai senior team, meanwhile, will meet the winners between Palestine and Afghanistan in the second round of Asia's World Cup 2014 qualifying.

The draw for both events took place at the Asian Football Association Confederation headquarters in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

In the Olympic qualifying round, Thailand edged Palestine on penalties in a preliminary round tie but their coach Charnwit Phalajivin said he was not worried about taking on Bahrain although he admitted he knew very little about the opponents.

"I am more worried about our preparation," he said.

He complained that some clubs had refused to release their players for training before Thailand met Palestine.

"I have to talk with the Football Association of Thailand," he said.

The first leg will be in Bahrain on June 19 and the second leg in Thailand on June 23 .
