Piyapong could become Robson's assistant (28/01/2011)
Worawi Makudi, president of the Football Association of Thailand, says he wants former national striker Piyapong Pue-on to be assistant to Thailand coach Bryan Robson.
The English coach has been without an assistant since his compatriot Steve Darby was assigned to do another job.
Worawi said yesterday he wanted Piyapong to work as Robson's assistant on a full-time basis but the former striker may not be available because he works at the Royal Thai Air Force and is also a TV commentator and businessman.
Piyapong said he was interested in the offer but he needed to talk with Worawi about the details.
He said there should not be a problem if the FAT offered him a two-year contract and believed his experience and knowledge should be useful to the national team .
