FAT rules onclub dispute (27/01/2011)

The Football Association of Thailand (FAT) and Thai Premier League (TPL) Co have ruled that TOT FC - and not TOT CAT FC - is the legitimate club to play in the top flight this year.

The ruling was made at yesterday's meeting attended by FAT secretary-general Ong-arj Kohsinkha, TPL chairman Vichit Yamboonruang, FAT lawyer Veera Kummee and other concerned parties.

Veera said after the meeting that TOT FC has been an FAT member club since it was named Telephone Organisation of Thailand while TOT CAT FC has never been.

TOT CAT FC officials had vowed to submit further information to the authorities to prove their ownership of the club but they did not show up at the meeting, Veera said.

TOT CAT FC managing director Pimol Srivikorn said he accepted the decision and would no longer become involved in football.

The businessman and one-time politician is also president of the Taekwondo Association of Thailand.

TOT CAT FC played in the TPL last season under an agreement with TOT FC. However, TOT FC wanted to run the club in the coming season and the move led to a legal wrangle.

The new season starts on Feb 12 .
