Worawi, the main target of the public's ire following the Thai team's recent disastrous results in international tournaments, will end his term on Friday.


"The executive board's tenure will end on December 31 but they will remain in office until the general assembly, which has to be held within 90 days, according to the rules. The election for a new president will be the main item on the agenda in the meeting," said Worawi.


"We need to amend the association's rules to be in line with Fifa and AFC [Asian Football Confederation] regulations. We have already sent the draft to the two organisations for their approval.


"After we get the approval, we need to submit it to the Sports Authority of Thailand for its endorsement.


"If there is no problem, we will adopt the new election procedure for both president and executive board," said Worawi.


Meanwhile, police have issued summons for five suspects in the assault of the referee in the promotion play-off game between Nakhon Pathom and Si Sa Ket on Saturday. Flight
