Pressure on Worawi (20/12/2010)

Thai fans staged another protest yesterday demanding that Worawi Makudi resign as president of the Football Association of Thailand.

The fans gathered outside the FAT office at Supachalasai stadium in their second demonstration following last week's protest.

They handed a protest letter to FAT secretary-general Ong-arj Kosinkha as Worawi was in Abu Dhabi to watch the Club World Cup final.

The fans are fed up with the country's poor performance on the international stage.

The U23 team were eliminated in the first round at the 2009 SEA Games, while the full national side failed to get past the opening round in the recent Suzuki Cup.

The protesters wore "VV (Worawi) Get Out" t-shirts.

The letter called on Worawi to quit and the FAT to push for reform.

"We will keep pressuring Worawi to quit," said Pipat Waramethpipat, a protest leader.

Before he left for Abu Dhabi, Worawi promised to hold talks with the fans on Dec 25 .
