Thailand through to Finals (14/12/2010)



Bangkok: A 2-1 victory over Myanmar helped Thailand qualify for the AFC U-16 Women’s Championship Finals on goal difference on Sunday.

Myanmar were leading the five-team table before the final game while Thailand and Chinese Taipei were three adrift on six. Chinese Taipei, who were held 3-3 by Vietnam, finished third with seven points.

Orapin Waenngoen’s 22nd-minute opener for the Thais was cancelled out by May Thu Kyaw ten minutes later. Jutarat Innurag scored the match-winner for Thailand nine minutes before the final whistle.

Le Hoai Luong scored a brace and Nguyen Thi Thao netted one for Vietnam while Chinese Taipei’s goals were scored by Lin Hui-Wen, Chen Yen-Han and Lo Tien-Yu.

Thailand joined Korea Republic, DPR Korea, Japan, Australia and China at the 2011 AFC U-16 Women’s Championship Finals.
