Thai League XI 0-3 Atletico Madrid (2/08/2010)

Reigning Europa League champions Atletico Madrid participated in a pre-season friendly today against a team made up entirely of stars from Thailand's Premier League. Playing without two of their most important players, the Spanish outfit were still able to record a comprehensive 3-0 win over the Thai all-stars.

As expected, the Liga side dominated possession from the beginning against their Asian opponents. Opening the scoring after only 16 minutes, Eduardo Salvio collected the ball from former Arsenal string-puller Fran Merida before striking hard and fast past the Thai 'keeper.

Alvaro Dominguez added to the tally less than ten minutes later, volleying cleanly towards goal after a well delivered corner. The Spanish side went in 2-0 up at the break.

New signing Felipe, who made the switch from Deportivo La Coruna, enjoyed his first minutes in an Atletico shirt, making his debut appearance against the Asian contingent.

Picking the ball up after a rebound on 85 minutes, Portuguese striker Simao drilled straight for goal and met his target, putting a bow on affair and adding to Atletico's already high levels of confidence leading in to the new season.
