Thailand will co-host the Asean Football Championship (formerly the Tiger Cup) with Singapore from January 12 next year. Football Association of Thailand secretary general Worawi Makudi revealed the news after attending a meeting in Kuala Lumpur.

As last year, the semi-final and the final will be in a home and away format.

The official draw will be held in Bangkok on November 27.

The tournament was named the Asean Football Championship because main sponsor Tiger Beer withdrew.

The Philippines, Cambodia, Brunei, Laos and East Timor will take part in a pre-qualifying tournament in Bacolod city, the Philippines in November.

The top two teams will qualify for the final round to join the six seeded teams, Burma, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

The Thai team will use the Asian Cup squad as the main team.

Thailand is co-hosting that competition with Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam.
