Reid expects right result (7/01/2009)
Coach Peter Reid is confident that Thailand will get off to a winning start in the Asian Cup qualifying round next week. The Thais are drawn in Group E along with Iran, Jordan and Singapore with the top two teams advancing to the 2011 finals.
Thailand will open their campaign against Jordan in Amman on Jan 14 and then host Iran on Jan 28.
Reid said yesterday he was not worried about the opening game as he has friends in the Middle East who will give him information about Jordan.
''I have to do my homework. I have friends who are working in Dubai and Qatar. They will give me information about Jordan. So I don't have to be worried about this,'' he said.
Jordan are coached by Portuguese Nelo Vingada who is likely to get information about Thailand from compatriot Henrique Calisto who guided Vietnam to beat Thailand in the recent AFF Suzuki Cup final.
But Reid said he was not worried and that he liked working under pressure.
''The players are capable enough to beat Jordan. I am very pleased with them. Jordan have not won for five games and I do hope Thailand will be the next team to beat them,'' Reid said.
Meanwhile, Thailand striker Teerasil Dangda completed his move from Ratchapracha to Thailand Premier League newcomers Nong Jok United when he signed a five-year contract with the promoted side.
