Hard China mission (August 08, 2006)

TOR CHITTINAND

Thailand are on their way to China today to play in a friendly on Thursday as part of the squad's preparation for the 15th Asian Games in Doha, Qatar later this year. Head coach Charnwit Phalajivin has asked fans to keep the match in perspective.

''If we get thrashed I don't know whether the Thai people will accept it or not,'' he said.''I hope Thai football fans know we are just the under 23 team while the Chinese team are the full senior team.

''We will do our best because it will be good to play with the Chinese national team.

''We will have chance to play with one of the best teams in Asia.

''Although we have only been training for three weeks this will be very useful.

''We will be able to use it to improve ourselves.''

Kritsakorn Kerdpol, Decha Petchtakao, Yingyong Tansopha, Kraisorn Panjaroen and Kittipol Papungar were dropped from the squad due to size constraints.

They will continue to train with the pre-Olympic team and will have chance to go to Malaysia for the Merdeka Cup tournament in two weeks.
