Thailand aim to pick up all three points (December 07, 2007)

TOR CHITTINAND

Thailand will be gunning for three points when they meet Indonesia in their last preliminary-round match at His Majesty the King's 80th Birthday Anniversary Stadium today.

The game will kick off at 7.45pm and be televised live on TITV.

Thailand, who had beaten Burma and Cambodia, have already qualified for the semi-finals and need a draw to top Group A.

Indonesia have to avoid defeat to reach the last four. They have four points from a win over Cambodia and a draw with Burma.

Burma, who have one point, can still qualify for the semi-finals if they beat Cambodia and the other result goes their way.

Coach Thongsuk Sampahangsit said he would send a strong squad to face Indonesia although he would make a few changes to the line-up.

Indonesia are dangerous down the flanks but weak in defending counter-attack. ''I am sure we will beat them and get the three points,'' he said.

Indonesia's Bulgarian coach Ivan Kolev said Thailand were the best team in this SEA Games but his side would play an attacking game.
