Thailand coach Thongsuk Sumpahangsit is worried that the cold weather in Nakhon Ratchasima could affect his side's bid to win the country's eighth straight SEA Games gold medal.

The squad, who open their campaign against Burma on Sunday, will leave for the northeastern province today.

Thongsuk said he did not have any injury worries but was afraid that the cold weather in the province could affect his players.

''The weather in Nakhon Ratchasima is getting cold particularly in the evening,'' the coach said.

''I have told the players to look after themselves. We want a fit and healthy squad for the tournament.''

Thongsuk has called up midfielder Apipoo Sunthornpanawet to join the 20-man squad, replacing Sarawut Jantaphan who did not show up for training.

''Without Sarawut, we will not become weaker,'' he said. ''Apipoo had good performance with Osotspa in the Thailand Premier League last season. He will do well at the SEA Games.''
