20 players named in SEA squad (November 29, 2007)
Thailand yesterday named the 20-man squad which will defend their title at the 24th SEA Games which begins in Nakhon Ratchasima next week. Among those in the team are striker Teerathep ''Leesaw'' Winothai and two recent Manchester City signings, Teerasil Dangda and Kiatprawut Saiwaew.
SEA Games coach Thongsuk Sumpahangsit said he had picked the best squad available.
Manager Kittiratt Na Ranong said there had been problems getting the team together because the Thailand League only finished this week.
''Although we are playing at home it will not be easy,'' he said.
Kittiratt said the team would be given a 500,000 baht bonus for every match they win. If they win the final they will get an additional one million baht.
Five players that have been left out of the squad are: Chalermkiat Sombatpan, Kraisorn Pancharoen, Apipoo Sunthornpanawet, Noppol Pitafai and Jetsadakorn Hemdang.
Thailand's first match will be against Burma on Sunday at His Majesty the King's 80th Birthday Anniversary Stadium in Nakhon Ratchasima and will kick off at 6.30pm.
