Future aim (July 29, 2006)

The Football Association of Thailand (FAT) believes 100 million baht is required to help the Thai national team qualify for World Cup 2010 in South Africa. The money will come from private companies as the FAT does not want to depend on government assistance because of the current instability.

FAT president Vijitr Getkaew and the chairman of the Thai Football for the World Cup finals project, Vorawut Rojanapanich, had a meeting at the National Football Training Centre, Nong Jok yesterday to discuss the issue.

After the meeting, Vorawut said: ''We will select players from the Asian Games, Asian Cup, SEA Games and U20 teams to get 52 players for a long-term training camp.

''Then we will discuss the plan of how are we going to train and have warm-up matches.''

''We decided that in the next three years we will use around 100 million baht as the first step.''
