Weather worry for Chanvit (November 08, 2007)

Thailand coach Chanvit Phalajivin is worried about the weather in San'aa when his men take on Yemen in a World Cup qualifier tomorrow. The Thai squad had to travel more than 12 hours to arrive in San'aa earlier this week for the first leg of Asia's second round World Cup qualification.

Chanvit said apart from the cold weather he was also worried about the thin air in the capital of Yemen as his players could become exhausted easily.

''I'm worried about the weather because San'aa is 2,000 metres above sea level. This could affect our players,'' he said.

''I watched them train and some had breathing problems. We have pulse testing before and after training.''

The players seem to have adapted well to the weather after one day in Yemen. However, captain and midfielder Tawan Sripan is still nursing an injury and may not be fit in time, Chanvit said.
