Thailand aim to finish job (October 15, 2007)

TOR CHITTINAND

Macau _ Thailand coach Chanvit Phalajivin is ready to end Macau's World Cup dream today in the second leg of their Asian qualifier at Macau University's Science and Technology stadium.

Thailand go into the game 6-1 up after the first leg in Bangkok and Chanvit said he was focused on completing the job.

"We have the advantage because of the big lead so there is no need to go straight on the attack like in the first game," said Chanvit.

"I am confident we will beat them although the pitch is bouncy and not smooth like the one in Bangkok.

"However, we can play on it and it isn't a problem for us."

The match will kick off at 7pm and Thailand will start with strikers Sarayuth Chaikamdee and Teerasil Dangda up front.

Chanvit has had to reshuffle because he is without eight national players after BEC Tero and TOT refused to reschedule a Thailand Premier League fixture at the weekend.

The Thai coach said he was concerned about his players being unfit for domestic action after the World Cup qualifier.

"We don't want the players to risk injury because when we get back to Thailand they have got to play matches in the Thailand Premier League," he said.

"We are worried the players may be tired after being in so many matches.

"We will use fresh players for the match and will change six players from the previous match in Bangkok because eight players from the BEC Tero and TOT FC did not come with the team."

Chanvit has opted for a 4-4-2 formation and Sivaluk Terdsungnern is likely to be in goal.

The defence will include Jetsada Jitsawad, Kiatprawut Saiwaew and Nattapong Samana while Phitchitpong Cheuichiew and Jakkrit Bunkham could feature in midfield.

Thailand team manager Kittiratt Na Ranong said the team will wear yellow jerseys again.

"I am confident that we will beat Macau," he said.

"My only concern is the weather because it is very humid and will create problems for the players."
