Charnvit axes four players from squad (July 04, 2007)

Thai national team coach, Chanvit Phalajivin yesterday named four of the six players to be axed from the Asian Cup squad. The unlucky players are Kraikiat Beadtaku, Narongchai Vachiraban, Sarayud Chaikamdee and Kwanchai Phuangprakob.

Two more players will be dropped before the event begins as the squads are restricted to 23 players each.

Yesterday Thailand A came from behind to edge Thailand B 4-3 in a warm-up at Thephatsdin stadium.

The coach rested a number of key players including Therdsak Chaiman, Tawan Sripan, Nirut Surasiang and Datsakorn Thonglao.

Thai B opened the scoring through Kosin Hathairattanakool but Thai A equalised with a goal by 19-year-old Teerasil Dangda, and the score stood at 1-1 at half time.

In the second half Thai B took a 3-1 lead with two goals from Sarayud Chaikamdee, one a penalty and the other a tap-in.

Thai A came storming back with a second goal from Teerasil and then Jakkrit Bunkham made it 3-3. Striker Teerathep Winothai got the winning goal for Thai A to make it 4-3.

Meanwhile, the three other teams in the Asian Cup's Group A _ Australia, Iraq and Oman _ will arrive in Bangkok today and all will be staying at the Royal Orchid Sheraton hotel.
