Thailand coach Chanvit Phalajivin is happy with the national team's three-week training in Germany and believes his men can be a surprise package at next month's Asian Cup. The team returned from Germany yesterday and Chanvit was particularly satisfied with his men's improving physical fitness.

''They are very fit now. The training was very useful and we learned a lot of things,'' he said.

Thailand played three warm-up matches in Germany where they beat three amateur sides.

While Chanvit admitted that his team needed to improve their defence, he believes they can pull off some surprise results.

Thailand face Australia, Iraq and Oman in their group in the Asian Cup co-hosted by Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia and Indonesia.

Thailand play their final warm-up against Qatar on Saturday at 6.30pm at the Army stadium.
