Kiatisak nearly fit (June 13, 2007)

Veteran striker Kiatisak ''Zico'' Senamuang said he was nearly back to full strength and would be fit for the Asian Cup. Kiatisak is training with the national side in Germany as part of their preparations for the Asian Cup to be held in Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia and Indonesia next month.

''I'm not worried about my fitness,'' he said.

''It is around 80-90% at the moment.

''I will be ready for the Asian Cup.''

Thailand will meet Iraq in their opening match. The other two teams in the group are Australia and Oman.

As Thailand do not have much information on Iraq, manager Kittirat Na Ranong will fly to Palestine to watch them play Iraq in a friendly.

Thailand coach Chanvit Phalajivin said the match against Iraq would be very important and could determine whether Thailand were still in contention for a place in the knock-out stage.
