Worawi Makudi has become hot favourite to be elected president of the Football Association of Thailand on Sunday after honorary president of the FAT, Chaiyapak Siriwat, confirmed he would not be a candidate for the post. Chaiyapak said yesterday his only interest is to help develop football in Thailand. ''I will support Worawi as new president,'' he said.

It is expected Ong-art Kohsinkha will be named secretary-general of the FAT. ''I have a lot of experience working with Worawi and I think we can do a good job,'' he said.

Minister of Tourism and Sports Suwit Yodmanee also said he will support Worawi.

''I have followed Worawi's work and he is the right person for the job.

''He has worked with Fifa, AFC and AFF for a long time. His election will help develop Thai football at an international level,'' he said.
